Patna, September 26, 2026: Patna is all set to witness a major celebration of archery as the fourth Raja Karna Bihar State Archery Championship, ‘Lakshya’ 2026, will be organised from September 27 to 29 at the Pataliputra Sports Complex, Kankarbagh. The three-day state-level championship aims to identify emerging archery talent from across Bihar and provide young athletes with an opportunity to demonstrate their skills, accuracy and competitive spirit.
330 Archers to Compete for State-Level Glory
According to Ravindran Shankaran, Director General-cum-Chief Executive Officer of the Bihar State Sports Authority, a total of 330 archers from different districts of Bihar will participate in the championship. The event will bring together 180 boys and 150 girls, reflecting the growing participation of young athletes in archery across the state. Competitions will be conducted across six age categories, including Under-10, Under-13, Under-15, Sub-Junior and Junior categories, allowing talented players from different stages of development to compete and gain valuable experience at the state level.
The championship is being organised by the Sports Department and Bihar State Sports Authority at the Pataliputra Sports Complex. With a large number of young archers participating, the event is expected to provide a significant platform for athletes to test their abilities in a competitive environment while also encouraging greater interest in the sport.
Identifying and Nurturing Emerging Talent
The Bihar State Government is continuing its efforts to promote sports and support the overall development of athletes through regular state-level competitions. Such championships play an important role in bringing forward sporting talent from different districts and providing promising players with opportunities to compete beyond their local training environments.
Speaking about the objective of the championship, Ravindran Shankaran said that the focus is not limited to organising competitions but also on identifying promising talent and providing athletes with appropriate training, guidance and support. The aim is to develop young archers under the guidance of skilled coaches and prepare them for higher-level competitions.
Building a Pathway Towards National and International Competition
Through structured training and continued exposure to competitive events, the promising archers emerging from such championships can be developed for national and international platforms. ‘Lakshya’ 2026 therefore represents more than a three-day sporting event; it is an opportunity to recognise young talent, encourage participation in archery and strengthen the foundation for the future of Bihar’s sporting community. The championship will also provide athletes with valuable competitive experience as they work towards representing Bihar and India on larger stages.
