India have won the 2026 Asian Games men’s cricket gold medal after beating Pakistan by 19 runs in a closely fought final at Nisshin.
The Indian team, led by Shreyas Iyer, successfully defended the gold medal they won in 2023. The victory also completes a second straight Asian Games gold-medal sweep for Indian cricket, with the women’s team having already won gold earlier in the tournament.

India Sets Pakistan a Target of 212
India batted first and put up a strong total of 211 runs. With 212 needed for victory, Pakistan had a difficult chase ahead of them. The Pakistan team, however, did not give up easily. Their chase became particularly interesting because of Hasan Nawaz, who played a brilliant innings and scored 94 runs. Nawaz kept Pakistan’s hopes alive even as wickets fell at the other end. His performance put pressure on the Indian bowlers and kept the match open until the later stages.
India Holds Their Nerve
Pakistan eventually needed to score quickly, but India managed to control the game when it mattered most. The Indian bowlers picked up important wickets and prevented Pakistan from building the partnership they needed. Despite Nawaz’s excellent effort, Pakistan could only reach 192 for six at the end of their 20 overs.
India won the final by 19 runs.
Another Gold for Indian Cricket
The victory is another special moment for Indian cricket at the Asian Games.
Pakistan came close during their chase, but India’s players stayed calm and finished the match successfully. For Pakistan, Hasan Nawaz’s 94 was the major highlight of their innings. For India, the ability to defend their total under pressure made the difference.
