The American Express Bengaluru Theatre Festival (BTF) is set to debut this December, bringing an exciting new chapter to the city’s vibrant cultural landscape. From December 6th to 8th at the Good Shepherd Auditorium, BTF promises to be an extraordinary celebration of live theatre with a stellar lineup of performances. Following the success of the Delhi Theatre Festival, Alchemist LIVE presents this highly anticipated event in Bengaluru, featuring some of the finest actors in India, including Naseeruddin Shah, Ratna Pathak Shah, Pankaj Kapur, Lillete Dubey, and others.
The inaugural BTF will showcase an eclectic mix of plays that span a range of emotions and stories. Pankaj Kapur’s Dopehri, performed on December 6th, transports the audience to the streets of Lucknow, where Amma Bi, an elderly woman, embarks on a journey of self-discovery. Old World, featuring Naseeruddin Shah and Ratna Pathak Shah, will captivate audiences with the unlikely friendship between a reserved doctor and a quirky woman at a health resort. This play delves into the complexities of life, love, and aging. The festival will also feature Salaam Noni Appa on December 8th, a delightful play based on Twinkle Khanna’s short story. Directed and performed by Lillete Dubey, it tells the heartwarming tale of a mature widow falling in love, exploring themes of companionship, self-discovery, and breaking stereotypes.
The American Express Bengaluru Theatre Festival ushers in a new era for the city’s theatre scene, uniting legendary talent and captivating narratives for an audience eager to experience the enchantment of live theatre. With an exceptional lineup, BTF is set to become a pivotal event in Bengaluru’s cultural calendar.
