‘NEW DELHI — To preserve the vibrant heritage of Indian folk arts and bridge the gap between traditional roots and the modern generation, Arunuj Films (Delhi) is set to host a landmark 3-day residential workshop under its popular ‘Cineshaala’ initiative.
For the first time, a dedicated workshop will focus on ‘Launda Naach’—a traditional folk-dance style from Bihar and Purvanchal (UP). This immersive experience will take place from April 18th to April 20th at the Surya Sadhana Sthali in Jhinjholi, Haryana.
A Fusion of Tradition and Modern Expression
‘Launda Naach’ is more than just a dance; it is a powerful medium of social satire and storytelling. Historically performed by male artists in female attire, this art form reflects various societal layers through entertainment. The workshop aims to provide participants with deep insights into its cultural background while honing contemporary performance skills.
Mentorship by NSD Alumnus Rakesh Kumar
The workshop will be led by Rakesh Kumar, a distinguished graduate of the National School of Drama (NSD), New Delhi. An accomplished actor and director, Kumar has been featured in the web series Maharani, the film Dhadak 2, and popular TV serials like Mere Sai.

Empowering the Next Generation of Artists
Shitanshu Arun, Founder of Arunuj Films, emphasized that the goal extends beyond teaching dance steps. “Our mission is to revitalize an art form that is slowly slipping away from the mainstream. We want the youth to understand, embrace, and redefine this heritage with their own creativity,” he stated.
