December 13, 2024: The Restaurant Cricket League (RCL) is set to return for its third season, combining the thrill of cricket with the mission to address food insecurity and promote sustainability. Launching on February 19, 2025, at the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex in New Delhi, RCL 2025 will bring together sports, social responsibility, and community spirit to fight hunger and raise awareness about food waste.
This season, RCL is focused on reducing food insecurity by promoting sustainable food practices and raising funds through strategic partnerships. For every 10 runs scored in the tournament, 100 nutritious meals will be distributed to those in need, ensuring that every boundary contributes to a greater cause. Through these efforts, RCL aims to bring attention to the importance of food security while supporting food banks and other hunger alleviation initiatives across the country.
Shri Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) and Honorary Chairman of the RCL Governing Council, emphasized the broader goals of the league. “The Restaurant Cricket League transcends sports to address pressing societal issues. RCL 2025 will continue its focus on food security while also promoting unity, sustainability, and wellness, in line with Prime Minister Modi’s vision of AatmaNirbhar Bharat.”
RCL 2025 will feature 16 state-based teams, each named after an iconic regional dish, showcasing the rich cultural diversity of India. The concurrent RCL Taste & Tradition Festival will celebrate the country’s heritage with food, art, and performances from all corners of India.
With players, celebrities, and policymakers in attendance, RCL 2025 is set to be a nationwide event that unites people through cricket, culture, and a shared commitment to a sustainable future.
