Malabar Gold Opens Largest Jewellery Unit in Hyderabad

Strengthening India’s Global Position in Jewellery Production

Malabar Gold & Diamonds, the world’s 5th largest jewellery retailer, opened its biggest manufacturing unit in Hyderabad on July 3, 2025. Located in General Park, Maheshwaram, this modern facility spreads over 3.45 lakh square feet. It brings together design, refining, production, and quality checks under one roof, making it the company’s largest facility among its 14 manufacturing plants across India and the GCC.

This advanced manufacturing site has the capacity to produce 4.7 tonnes of gold jewellery and 1.8 lakh carats of diamond jewellery every year. It also refines about 78 tonnes of gold annually. Over 2,750 artisans from 18 states work here, and around 40% of the workforce comes from the local area. The company focuses on creating a safe and supportive workplace, with a male-to-female ratio of 80:20.

Supporting Retail Growth and Innovation

The facility was officially launched by Telangana Chief Minister Sri Revanth Reddy along with Malabar Group leadership. The new unit will help meet rising demand as Malabar Gold & Diamonds expands its stores across India and globally.

Malabar’s total jewellery production now stands at more than 40.68 tonnes of gold and 3.61 lakh carats of diamonds each year, making it one of the largest jewellery manufacturers in the world.

The factory features the latest technology in 3D printing, casting, CNC machining, laser cutting, and advanced soldering, enabling the production of high-quality gold, diamond, platinum, and gemstone jewellery. The company has also set up a design studio, an R&D centre, and a training academy within the facility to encourage innovation and develop skilled talent.

Malabar Gold & Diamonds operates over 400 retail outlets in 13 countries, including India, the UAE, Qatar, USA, UK, Canada, Australia, and others. The company follows strong ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) values, contributing 5% of its profits towards social causes like health, education, and women’s empowerment.
