Day 10: Khelo India Youth Games 2025: Maharashtra’s Flying Girl Shaurya Ambure Shines Again in Patna with Her Second Consecutive Gold
On the opening day of athletics events at the Khelo India Youth Games 2025, 15-year-old Shaurya Ambure from Maharashtra delivered a stellar performance in the 100-meter hurdles, clinching a gold medal. She won gold at the National Youth Championship in Patna this March with a time of 14.55 seconds. This time, she broke her own record with a time of 14.11 seconds.
His achievement at the Asian Youth Championship in Saudi Arabia, clocking in at a remarkable 13.80 seconds to secure the bronze medal, truly showcases his dedication and talent. What an exciting accomplishment for him! She shared that this was only her fourth-ever 100-meter hurdles race, and she now aims to break the under-18 national record. Trained under coach Ajit Kulkarni in Thane for the past ten years, she credited her parents and coach for their constant support at every stage.
Speaking about the Patliputra Sports Complex in Patna, Shaurya appreciated the improved facilities and praised the upgraded track, which she felt helped athletes perform better. It’s noteworthy that even amidst the excitement of her gold medal win at the Khelo India Youth Games, Alka Singh had recently faced a challenging situation. She revealed that her participation in the Asian Qualification Tournament in March necessitated missing two of her board examinations during a prior trip to Patna. This highlights the dedication and sacrifices student-athletes often make to pursue their sporting dreams alongside their academic responsibilities.
Nishika Agarwal of Telangana reaffirmed her gymnastics dominance at KIYG 2025, retaining her artistic all-around crown. Meanwhile, gymnasts from Maharashtra demonstrated their mastery in the rhythmic events, securing top honors.
At the Indira Gandhi Stadium in New Delhi, Telangana’s Nishika Agarwal successfully defended her gold in the women’s artistic gymnastics all-around category, winning the title for the second consecutive time. This marked her third appearance at the Khelo India Games, having previously gained experience competing in Tamil Nadu and Haryana.
Nishika attributed her success to complete focus and self-confidence, which helped her achieve favorable results. In the same category, Maharashtra’s Anushka Patil and Sara Raul secured silver and bronze, respectively. In the men’s all-around event, Harshit D from Uttar Pradesh took the gold, while Niladri Sarkar of West Bengal and Akshat Bajaj of Delhi earned silver and bronze, respectively.
Maharashtra delivered an impressive showing in rhythmic gymnastics as well.
Parina Madanpotra won gold in the individual all-around event with a score of 83.650, followed by silver medalist Shubhashree Singamore and Delhi’s Rachel Deep who secured the bronze. Parina praised the event’s management, highlighting the excellent facilities and quality food provided.
Three-Time Khelo India Medalist Dhalana Says – ‘With Confidence and Hard Work, Nothing is Impossible’
Dhalana KS of Kerala continued her stellar performance at KIYG 2025, securing the gold medal in the Chuwa Dukal category of Kalari Payattu. This victory marks her third medal at the Khelo India Games, highlighting her consistent excellence in the sport. For the past three years, she has been performing consistently well in this traditional martial art.
She credited her success to her coach, G. Radhakrishnan, and emphasized that confidence and hard work can make the impossible possible. Dhalana also shared her approach to balancing academics and sports, stating that her next goal is to win a medal at the upcoming National Kalari Payattu Championship to be held in Kerala.
KIYG 2025: Rajasthan Dominates Road Cycling Time Trial, Sweeps Gold in Both Categories
Rajasthan’s cyclists delivered a standout performance in the road cycling time trial, securing five medals in total. In the women’s category, Manju Chaudhary from Barmer clocked 32:15.142 minutes to secure gold. Maharashtra’s Jul Ganjam Narkar took silver, and Rajasthan’s Rukmini claimed bronze.
Rajasthan dominated the men’s 30 km race, securing all the top positions.
Ramavatar Chimpa won gold, Mahadev Saran secured silver, and Mahavir Saran took home bronze. This was Manju’s first appearance at the Khelo India Games, and she expressed satisfaction with her performance and ambition to improve further in road racing.
Alka Singh Wins Bihar’s First Khelo India Gold in Shot Put
Seventeen-year-old Alka Singh makes history for Bihar at KIYG 2025. Her powerful throw of 14.73 meters in the shot put not only secured her a gold medal but also marked Bihar’s inaugural gold in the Games. Alka credited the Khelo India Asmita League, where she previously won gold medals, for playing a key role in her development.
Hailing from Siwan, she has been training for the past three years under the guidance of coach Padmagiri. Alka has also won gold medals at both the Under-18 National and Junior Championships. Her next focus is on the Junior National Championship to be held in Odisha this October.
