Harsh Raj from Muzaffarpur Selected for Indian Rugby Camp, Eyes Oman Tournament

Muzaffarpur, Bihar: Harsh Raj, a rising rugby player from Chadhua village in Kudhni block, Muzaffarpur, has achieved a significant milestone by securing a place in the Senior National India Camp. Only 28 players from across the country earned selection, making this opportunity highly prestigious. The training camp will be organized at the Sports Authority of India (SAI), Kolkata, from September 23 to October 22, 2025. At the conclusion of the camp, the final squad of 12 players will be chosen to represent India in the Asia Sevens Trophy, scheduled in Oman on October 25–26, 2025.

From Rural Roots to National Recognition

Harsh Raj’s achievement reflects the power of dedication and determination. He is the son of Shri Meghnath Paswan, who works as a toddy-tapper. Despite coming from a humble background and representing the Pasi community, Harsh has risen through hard work and commitment to his sport. His success has become a source of inspiration for his family, his community, and the state of Bihar.

His accomplishment received praise from several dignitaries and sports officials, who wished him a bright future. Among those who congratulated him were Bihar Sports Authority Director General Shri Ravindra Sankaran, Rugby Bihar General Secretary Shri Pankaj Jyoti, Treasurer and Muzaffarpur Rugby Secretary Shri Mukesh, and Arvind Anand, who has supported Muzaffarpur rugby at multiple levels. Senior officials from the Forest and Climate Change Department, including PCCF (HoFF) Shri Prabhat Kumar Gupta and Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Shri Arvinder, also extended their best wishes. His coach, Rahul Kumar, highlighted his discipline and consistency as key to his success.

Harsh Raj’s journey stands as proof that passion and effort can overcome social and economic barriers. Bihar now looks forward to his final selection and performance in Oman. His story offers a powerful message to young athletes—that with courage and persistence, dreams can be turned into reality.
