The Institute of Sports Science & Technology (ISST), Pune, hosted an inspiring edition of its flagship Humans in Sports initiative with global cricketing icon Mr. Jonty Rhodes, at the Ileseum Club, Bavdhan. The thoughtfully curated evening, titled “Life Lessons Through Sports,” brought together students, parents, educators, and industry professionals for a reflective dialogue on mindset, resilience, leadership, and long-term growth through sport.
The session was warmly hosted by Mrs. Tanvi Lunawat, Director – Operations, ISST, who guided the audience through an engaging and meaningful programme. Known worldwide for redefining excellence in fielding, Jonty Rhodes shared personal experiences from his international cricket journey, emphasising teamwork, consistency, and a process-oriented approach to success.
Sport as a Teacher Beyond the Scoreboard
Addressing aspiring sports professionals, Rhodes highlighted that sport is a lifelong classroom.
“Being part of a team is about contributing beyond personal performance—supporting others, staying disciplined, and trusting the process. Outcomes may be beyond control, but commitment to the process is what builds lasting success,” he shared.
Echoing this philosophy, Dr. Vipul Lunawat, Founder Director, ISST, spoke about ISST’s education model and the intent behind the initiative.
“Setbacks are feedback, leadership is responsibility, and excellence is built through habits—not moments,” he noted, reinforcing ISST’s belief in experiential and reflective learning.
Celebrating Growth, Learning, and Expansion
The evening also featured reflections on ISST Sports League 5.0, a student-driven, multi-sport platform across 11 disciplines that blends competition with hands-on learning. While the league’s Awards Night celebrated excellence, the event’s core focus remained personal growth and human development.
The programme began with a ceremonial lamp lighting by Mr. Jonty Rhodes, Dr. Vipul Lunawat, Mrs. Ujjwala Lunawat (Chairperson, ISST), and Dr. Pranati Tilak, Vice-President, Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth Trust. ISST also announced the launch of its Kharghar, Navi Mumbai campus, supported by Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth—marking a key milestone in ISST’s expansion.
Through Humans in Sports, ISST continues to shape ethical, reflective, and future-ready sports professionals—positioning sport as a powerful teacher of character, leadership, and life.
