Muzaffarpur Girl Creates History
Bihar’s 8-year-old Nilanjana Sharma is the youngest athlete in the Khelo India Youth Games 2025. She belongs to Muzaffarpur and is already making her state and country proud. Nilanjana picked up the table tennis paddle when she was just three years old. Her father, Niranjan Kumar Sharma, was the one who guided her into the world of sports. He is a former footballer and now a sports teacher at DAV Public School, Muzaffarpur. Initially, her parents wanted her to learn lawn tennis. Due to lack of facilities, they switched her to table tennis. Since then, her father has been training her without any professional help.

Early Success at State Level
Despite her young age, Nilanjana has shown great talent and commitment. She won her first Under-11 state title in 2022. In 2024, she earned gold in Under-11 and Under-13 categories. That same year, she also claimed a silver medal in the Under-15 category. Her coach, Rahul Kumar, confirmed that she is the youngest athlete in this year’s event.
