Patna: The long-awaited Bihar Diwas 2025 festivities have commenced today (March 22) at the historic Gandhi Maidan in Patna. The festival this year has been themed “Unnat Bihar – Viksit Bihar” (Advanced Bihar – Developed Bihar) and will run till March 26. The event will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and will be free for all to attend. Several government departments have erected stalls to share information on state welfare schemes and programs.

What’s Special in Bihar Diwas 2025?
Reflecting Education and Innovation
Between March 22 and 24, various exhibition stalls will exhibit:
- Student-made models
- Winning paintings from art competitions
- Teaching-learning materials (TLM) developed by teachers
Furthermore, the Health Department will organize 15 free health stalls on March 22 and 23, providing free medical check-ups and consultations.
Experience Bihar’s Rich Cultural Heritage
To project Bihar’s golden past, the event will have 3D replicas of prominent historical monuments, including:
- Mahabodhi Temple
- Nalanda University
- Vishwa Shanti Stupa
- Takht Shri Harimandir Patna Sahib
A virtual tour of these places will also be provided. In addition to this, exhibitions of handicrafts, jute, lac industries, handloom, and leather will be showcased.
Cultural Performances to Enthrall Visitors
Bihar Diwas will feature various cultural performances at:
- Shri Krishna Memorial Hall
- Ravindra Bhavan
- Gandhi Maidan
- Premchand Rangshala
A women-focused drama festival will be conducted in Premchand Rangshala, wherein all characters will be played by females. Street plays (nukkad natak) will also be staged in order to create awareness about social causes.
Government Officials to Showcase Their Talent
Senior government officials will also participate in cultural performances:
✔ DG Alok Raj – Singing performance (March 23, Shri Krishna Memorial Hall, 6 PM)
✔ Dr. N. Vijayalakshmi – Bharatanatyam dance (March 22, Shri Krishna Memorial Hall, 7 PM)
✔ IAS Neelam Chaudhary – Kathak dance (March 23, 7 PM)
Strict Security Arrangements
On the occasion of the Bihar Diwas celebrations, morning and evening strolls in the Gandhi Maidan have been disallowed up to March 24 on grounds of security. Non-essential work will be prevented as well.
